A small selection of places to go

The local village pub is always a good place to start. The popular Bay Horse is about 5 - 10 minutes walk from our CL and serves good food in a cosy atmosphere. There is always a selection of real ales on draft to try and it is well worth a visit during your stay.

Archers Jersey Ice cream is also well worth a visit. This is a farm a few miles from our site and there is a lovely cafe selling their own Jersey cow ice cream and a selection of
Our site is about 2 miles away from the Shildon railway museum. It is free to visit the museum and they have regular events throughout the year. A great place for train enthusiasts. They have a cafe, shop, play area and you can travel on their steam train at certain times.

Another one for railway enthusiasts is the Weardale Railway. Travel on vintage rolling stock from Stanhope to Wolsingham and enjoy the beautiful Weardale countyside.
The Metro Centre, a favourite for shoppers, this is Europe’s largest shopping and entertainment centre and is about 45 minutes drive North.
Why not step back in time and visit the 300 acre Beamish Museum.  “Beamish is a world famous open air museum. We tell the story of the people of North East England at two important points of their history - 1825 and 1913”
